I have some very big news to share. We're having a baby! We are so over the moon with excitement and anticipation to welcome our first child, a baby girl in April 2018.
About a month before the baby arrives, we will be moving into our new home in Santa Cruz, Calif. I know a move while nine months pregnant is not ideal, but we'd rather do it then instead of waiting until we have a newborn.
Living in Santa Cruz just a couple blocks to the beach, our kid is bound to be a surfer just like dad. After all, the town is nicknamed Surf City and it is said to be the birthplace of surfing in California. So, I've taken a cue from our future home with this beach/surfer baby inspired nursery. All of the items below we have either purchased or plan to purchase for her room.
We registered for and received a custom crib sheet and changing table cover in this adorable watercolor surfboard pattern.
My husband and I met when he was a lifeguard so this art print adds a sentimental touch.
This art print from the same artist above reminds me of the lighthouse and harbor in Santa Cruz.
I couldn't resist buying this surfboard shelf.
These tasseled curtains block light.
The same artist from above offers a 30% discount if you order three prints, so I added this set of cheeky seagulls to my order.
I'm sure I'll be spending lots of time with our baby girl in this glider chair.
The pom poms on this lamp tie in with the colorful tassels on the curtains.
This rug really ties the whole room together.
I will be using gold accents throughout the room so this crib will work perfectly.
The color scheme for the room was pulled from a dresser I refinished months ago with the plan to use it as a baby changing station. That dresser is already down in Santa Cruz (we're renting our house semi-furnished until we're ready to move there), so this is the only photo I have handy of it. I'll do another post on the dresser when I can get some better photos of it in the nursery.
I can't wait to see the whole room come together. I am sure it'll be the first room in the new house to be finished... hopefully before she arrives!
